How Recoup’s Waste Water Heat Recovery Technology Works

Our systems turn wasted heat from shower water into usable energy. Using a high-efficiency heat exchanger, they recover heat from wastewater and use it to preheat the incoming cold domestic water supply, reducing energy demand without affecting shower comfort.

Waste Water Heat Recovery (WWHR)

During every shower, litres of warm water disappear down the drain, and with that, valuable energy contained in the heat is lost. Our solutions capture this heat and reuse it.

After the warm water passes through the drain, it enters the shower wastewater heat recovery unit. Spiralling down the heat exchanger on the inside, whilst on the outside cold water flows in the opposite direction, the heat of the wastewater is transferred to the incoming cold water. In this way, the demand of the water heater is reduced, resulting in lower energy consumption. Typically, cold water temperatures of 10–12°C are preheated by the WWHR system up to 25–28°C.

Additional benefits include saving energy, saving costs, reducing CO₂ emissions and increasing shower comfort (enhanced capacity).

Robust design

Recoup Waste Water Heat Recovery Systems are designed with high quality materials ensuring a long life-cycle and 10 years warranty:

Technical benefits:

  • Double walled copper-tube
  • PVC-U outer tube with 100% re-use warranty
  • Turbo rotator inlet for higher efficiency
  • Innovative, fully recyclable cardboard packaging

Reliable performance

Our Waste Water Heat Recovery Systems capture heat silently. They are fully passive, meaning no electricity or external energy source is required.

The system operates without pumps, electronics or controls, relying solely on water flow and system design. During showering, wastewater is moved by gravity, while incoming cold water is driven by mains water pressure. This ensures continuous and reliable heat recovery with no user interaction required.

With no moving parts and no electronic components, the system is virtually maintenance-free and delivers consistent performance over its entire lifetime.

In summary:
• No electronics
• No moving parts
• No controls
